- Giving the number without the reason โ ‘angles in a triangle add to 180ยฐ’ is worth a mark on its own.
- Using 180ยฐ for a quadrilateral or 360ยฐ for a triangle.
- Assuming a triangle is isosceles or right-angled because it looks it. Only use what the question states or marks.

What are the angle facts I need for Level 2?
Angles on a straight line add to 180ยฐ, around a point to 360ยฐ, in a triangle to 180ยฐ, in a quadrilateral to 360ยฐ; vertically opposite angles are equal; isosceles triangles have two equal angles; a regular polygon’s interior angle is (n โ 2) ร 180 รท n.
Do I have to give a reason with my answer?
Usually yes โ questions say ‘give a reason’ or ‘explain’. Write the fact you used in words, e.g. ‘angles in a quadrilateral add up to 360ยฐ’. It is often a separate mark.
What is the interior angle of a regular hexagon?
120ยฐ. Use (n โ 2) ร 180 รท n with n = 6: 4 ร 180 รท 6 = 120. That is why hexagonal tiles fit together โ three of them make 360ยฐ.
