Functional Skills Level 2 for Apprentices

Most apprenticeship standards require you to have Level 2 English and Maths before you can complete your qualification. If you do not already have them, you need to pass Functional Skills Level 2 – and the sooner you get it done, the sooner you can progress.

Does my employer need to know?

Your apprenticeship provider or employer may already be aware that you need Level 2 – it is usually part of your apprenticeship agreement. If you are funding it yourself, you do not need to tell anyone. If your employer is funding it, see our employers page for information on bulk enrolment and invoice payment.

Which subject do I need?

Your apprenticeship standard will specify whether you need English, Maths or both. Check your apprenticeship agreement or ask your training provider. If you need both, you can enrol in both at the same time – Monday evenings give you English at 7pm and Maths at 8pm on the same day each week.
