Common mistakes on this topic

- Treating it as a text message: one paragraph, no capitals, “u” and “coz”.
- Ignoring the other users – the task usually says “respond to points others have made”.
- Writing a formal letter instead (“Dear Sir/Madam… Yours faithfully”) – wrong format, marks lost.

Semi-formal. Think of it as a letter to strangers who share your interest: friendly and direct, contractions are fine, but no slang, text-speak or emojis, and proper paragraphs.
What layout does a forum post need?
A thread title or subject, your username or name, short paragraphs suitable for a screen, and a sign-off. No addresses or dates are needed.
Do I need to respond to other users’ comments?
If the task says so – and it usually does – yes. ‘Several people have said… I’d argue…’ shows you have engaged with the discussion, which is a specific communication mark.
